Help & setup guide

Before you start
You need Wix Bookings with at least one service. Wix Pricing Plans is only needed if you want to check memberships, and Wix Intake Forms only if you want to check waivers. The kiosk works without either. Your site must be published.
1. Create the kiosk page
In the Wix Editor, add a new page. In the page’s settings, set its URL (slug) to exactly check-in. Wix names new pages after their title, so a page called “Check-In Kiosk” would otherwise get check-in-kiosk, and activation won’t find it.
2. Add the kiosk
Open Add Elements → App widgets (or your installed apps) and add the Check-In Kiosk element to that page. Stretch it to full width.
3. Hide it from the menu
In Pages & Menu, open the page’s ⋯ menu and choose Hide from menu. The page still works at /check-in. Visitors just won’t see it in your navigation.
4. Publish
Publish your site. In the Better Check-In dashboard, the Setup card should show Kiosk page at /check-in as Ready.
5. Start Premium
Start your free trial, or upgrade to Premium, from the Subscription card in the dashboard.
6. Activate the front-desk device
On the tablet you’ll use at the front desk, open the Better Check-In dashboard and press Activate Kiosk. Then tap Open kiosk on this device. The activation link works once and expires in 15 minutes. The kiosk stays signed in on that device until you revoke it.
7. Set your check-in rules
Choose whether a completed waiver and/or an active membership is required, and how early and how late clients may check in. Anyone who doesn’t meet a rule is asked to see staff instead of checking themselves in.
Revoking a device
In the dashboard, press Revoke Device. That kiosk loses access on its next request and shows “This device is not set up yet”. To use it again, activate it as a new device.
If your subscription isn’t active
Without an active Premium subscription, an activated kiosk shows “Self check-in is paused. Please see staff.” It stays signed in and resumes on its own once Premium is active again.
If you remove and reinstall the app
Your /check-in page stays, but Wix removes the Check-In Kiosk element from it, so add the element again after reinstalling. Your check-in rules and device records may still be there, and a tablet you activated before may work again without re-activation. If you don’t want that, revoke the device in the dashboard. Removing the app does not revoke devices by itself.
